The Course We Share: A Letter to Sean

Some of the best conversations I've ever had with my son didn't happen at a dinner table. They happened on a golf course, ball in the fairway, no rush to get anywhere.

It started with Sean pushing my trolley — a caddy learning the game by watching it up close, club by club, hole by hole. Lately, that's changed. He's not pushing the trolley anymore. He's playing alongside me, and the club in his hands is one that was passed down to him by his grandad. Three generations, one fairway. That's not something I take for granted.

This is where the Family in God. Family. Golf. stops being a slogan and becomes real. Walking a course with my son, we connect and share at a level that's hard to find anywhere else. No phones, no distractions — just the two of us, the game, and whatever's actually on our minds that day.

This summer, that same young man walked across a stage in a cap and gown. So I wrote him a letter, and I wanted to share it here.

🎓 A Proud Dad Moment ❤️🙏🏾

Yesterday was a very special day for our family as we celebrated our son graduating from the University of Lincoln. 🎓

Son, congratulations on this outstanding achievement. You have made us incredibly proud. Watching you work hard, remain focused and complete these last three years with such great results has been a blessing.

Above everything, we give all the glory to God. 🙏🏾 We thank Him for giving you this opportunity, for carrying you through every challenge, and for giving you the wisdom, strength and determination to finish what you started.

Your achievement is not only yours — it is a proud moment for our whole family. And as a father, one of the things that makes me especially proud is knowing that you are setting an example for your younger brother. He now has footsteps ahead of him that show what can be achieved through faith, discipline, hard work and perseverance. ❤️

And the journey continues… next stop, your Master's! 🎓📚

As you begin this next chapter, my prayer is that the same God who has guided and strengthened you over these past three years will continue to go before you. May He give you wisdom, favour, strength and direction throughout the year ahead.

Congratulations, Son. We are so proud of the young man you have become and excited for everything God has ahead of you.

To God be all the glory. 🙏🏾❤️🎓

Sean, if you're reading this — thank you for every round, every quiet conversation on the back nine, and for making me prouder than any trophy ever could. Your brother's watching, and you've shown him exactly what's possible.
